Temple of the American Dream
Mission: Create fabulous, inspiring participatory art in southeast Michigan, igniting local ideas, passions and communities.
Step One: Temples of Steel - an amazing steel structure that calls people to explore, contemplate, create, built by a volunteer team and slated to be melted down after a short, glorious life.
The Temple of steel is a work in progress - we have so much to figure out. We want YOUR input, collaboration and participation to do so!
Project Rules
* Non-denominational * Interactive * Usable year-round - not weather-dependent * Temporary - it must have a defined lifespan * Maintainable by locals

* Create Sanctuary * Encourage group organizing/gathering * Event/Activity zone * Inspire/illuminate/teach building and team and community skills

Some spectrums
* Zone (10 acres) to Spot (1 sculpture) * Huge (Temple) to Tiny (teeny tiny temple for 1) * Inner City (Detroit park) to Country (Metro Park or private land)
Options
* Online design - involve distant artists, architects, engineers * Modular - built in multiple locations, then shipped * Radical inclusion - involve unskilled volunteers * Kits - allow others to duplicate the design * Hold a contest for best designs * Many, smaller temples, spread across the area
